About Kingston City Hall
Kingston is known as the “Limestone City,” and Kingston City Hall might be the grandest expression of that. The Neoclassical domed edifice with limestone exterior was completed in 1844 when Kingston was Canada’s first capital. Interior features include grand staircases flanking the entrance with an overhanging mezzanine, council chambers, Memorial Hall, a stunning clock tower, and the original basement police station with jail cells.
Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro’s gothic romance Crimson Peak (2015) and HBO movie Vendetta (1999), starring Christopher Walken, shot here.
