There are more than 100 lakes in Lennox & Addington County. Take this route to see just a few of them and the sites and towns along the way. This route goes through Odessa, Camden East, Tweed, Kaladar, Dark Sky Viewing Area, Tamworth, Arden, Parham, Verona, and Harrowsmith.
This 280 km (175 mile) route takes about 4.5 hours.
Starting in Kingston from the Visitor Information Centre at 209 Ontario Street. Head east and turn left onto Brock Street. Continue on and turn slightly right onto Sir John A. Macdonald Boulevard. Turn left onto Princess Street. Continue on Princess Street/Route 2 west.
Continue onto Main Street.
Odessa
Local industry in the early to mid-1800s was powered by water: the banks of Millhaven Creek were once home to a few mills. Babcock Mill, a lumber planing mill built in 1856, is the last standing mill at this Odessa historical site. It has been restored as a fully operational water-powered mill and park site.
Founded in 1867, the Wilton Cheese Factory in Odessa has been run by the Jenson family since 1925. The factory offers a variety of quality cheeses and fresh curd for sale.
From Odessa, follow Route 2 w and L&A County Road 41 to Road 3 in Marlbank. Take Marlbank Road/County Road 13 to ON 37 N in Tweed.
Tweed
The Tweed and Area Heritage Centre is housed in a beautiful home dating back to 1897, known as the Houston House. The building houses a variety of services, including a visitor information centre, community art gallery, and a vast archive of local history.
From Tweed, head northwest on Victoria Street N/ON-37 N.
Turn right onto Highway 7.
Turn left onto Flinton Road/County Road 29.
Flinton
Turn right onto Highway 41 S.
Kaladar
Head east on L&A County Road 41 . Turn right for the Dark Sky Viewing Area.
Dark Sky Viewing Area
This rural area offers an optimal view for stargazing and night sky photography. It is the most southerly point in Ontario that offers a night sky experience very similar to what was available more than 100 years ago, free from light pollution.
Head east and turn right onto County Road 41.
Turn left onto County Road 4 W. Turn left onto Concession Street N/Road 15.
Tamworth
Head northwest on Concession Street N/Road 15 toward Rose Street. Continue onto Arden Road.
Arden
From Arden, head north on Arden Road toward Big Clear Lane. Turn right onto Highway 7. Turn left onto Mountain Grove Road. Turn left onto Long Lake Road. Turn left onto Wagarville Road.
Parham
From Parham, head west on Road 38.
Harrowsmith
From Harrowsmith, follow Road 38 and ON-401 E back to Kingston.
